Education - FAQs
What equipment do we need to receive or to preview the International Networks?
The recommended receiving equipment is:
- 3-meter satellite antenna - minimum (dish)
- C Band feedhorn (attaches to dish)
- C Band low noise block downconverter, 25 degrees or less noise temp (attaches to feedhorn)
- GI Decipher II Products
Can we receive other channels on this equipment?
Yes, although only one channel may be received at a time. The equipment we recommend is today's digital standard. With it, you may be able to receive signals from other programmers using this system.
How much will the equipment cost?
Probably $3,000 to $8,000 for the full package, depending primarily on dish size and whether you use a consumer-grade or commercial-grade dish. If you already have a satellite receiving system, you may need to add only the Digicipher II receiver.
How do we purchase this equipment?
Contact your local equipment supplier. If there aren't any available in your area, consider:
| Motorola | 1-800-356-3383 |
| Megahertz (Colorado) | 1-800-525-8386 |
| Dawnco (Michigan) | 1-800-866-6969 |
How is this equipment serviced?
Although very little service is required for professional satellite receiving equipment once it has been installed, qualified educational institution personnel or your local satellite dealer can provide any necessary service.
Where do we call for authorization should we lose the signal?
You will receive an authorization to activate your decoder after becoming an International Networks educational affiliate. Should you need a new authorization, contact our authorization center at (800) 824-1771, 24 hours a day. You will need your decoder address, which is the 16 digit alpha-numeric sequence found on the unit.
How do we receive International Networks at a government language facility?
There is a small annual subscription fee based on the number of language students accessing that network. Call (303) 712-5427 for further information.
